Multiple Microchip Registries
The Service matches RFID microchip numbers to the database with which the chip was
originally registered, also known as the origination source. However, some pet owners
choose to have their pet's microchip registered with multiple registries. The Service
search algorithm is, however, currently equipped to locate multiple registries to
which a microchip may be registered. This future Service development is recognized
as being the ideal scenario to assisting those using the Website to assist lost
pets. Participation and agreements with microchip database companies are in development.
With the consent and participation of microchip databases the Service can match
the RFID microchip directly with the database.
To maintain secure owner information, the information obtained from database companies
is restricted to the RFID number and the date the number was entered into their
database. With this, the Service algorithm is built to return the most recent registered
database, resolving the issue of registration with multiple databases. Thus, maintaining
of pet owner privacy is the responsibility and duty of the microchip databases to
preserve, according to their privacy and use policy.
